Gary Coffman

I received my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Enginezering from Marshall University and began my PhD here at Wright State in Spring 2026. Before beginning research as an undergraduate, I participated in several STEM outreach programs as an assistant instructor to help develop foundational engineering skills in middle/high school individuals with interest in STEM careers. I began my undergraduate research under my current mentor Dr. Nasim Nosoudi, beginning with designing novel bioinstrumentation for tissue engineering applications before moving into stem cell engineering and molecular pathways research. My current research investigates how specific combinations of external stimuli influence adipose-derived stem cell fate based on our findings involving a chondrogenic differentiation mechanistic pathway.

Eda Kurtulmus

I earned my Master of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. During my graduate studies, I gained research experience in tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, histology, and extracellular matrix proteomics. My previous work included investigating osteopontin therapy for diabetic wound healing and analyzing extracellular matrix proteins from different fibroblast cell lines. I began my PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Wright State University in Fall 2026 under the mentorship of Dr. Nasim Nosoudi. My current research interests include biomaterials, computational modeling, and machine learning applications in healthcare

Chloe Duckworth

I graduated from Marshall University in December 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering. I took a semester off before returning to school at Wright State as a master’s student in the BME department. During my time at Marshall, I was a peer mentor in the BME laboratory under Dr. Nasim Nosoudi as well as a teaching assistant in the College of Engineering and Computer Sciences. As for my work in the lab, I spent the majority of my time researching polyphenols and their influence on elastin and collagen production in human dermal fibroblasts. This research resulted in 2 publications and numerous presentations at conferences across the world. My plan is to continue to teach/ peer mentor while furthering my understanding of biomedical engineering.
